Wesley slowly inched his head just beyond the lip of the hollow, hoping to see what might be dwelling below. Fear squirmed into his body and wriggled down his spine, shaking his nerves as his eyes spelunked the blackness. But there was nothing there, just the quiet of a displaced night, plucked from the sky of some abandoned hell and stuffed into a deep, endless hole.
Wesley gritted his teeth, and his fist became a white-knuckled rock. He quickened his pace through the woods, eventually wandering off the clearer paths and into a mystery of heavy fog. He wasn’t sure whether he’d accidentally lost the trail, or if he had done it to spite the voices.
“What do you hope to accomplish here, Wesley? Hm? Ah, I see. The silent treatment. That’s okay, I already know. A word of advice, though—little boys who wander too far into the dark don’t often find their way back. The world is full of so many rabbit holes, now. And we both know which one you’re looking for, don’t we?"
Since the Great Darkness of 1999, all manner of strange and terrible artifacts continue to be discovered around the world. Known as Obscura, none are larger or more mysterious than Grimland—an entire island continent in the Pacific Ocean, shrouded in fog and perpetual storms. Dr. Wesley Morrigan, a biologist with a tragic past, has been tasked with its exploration. Where others see only a wealth of post-Darkness knowledge, Wesley hopes to find an end to his encroaching madness—one way or another.
